This program is designed to introduce you to the main features of the cardiovascular system and how they work together to carry out their important functions in the body. The program begins with an overview of the cardiovascular system, followed by an explanation of its components and function. You will then learn about the different components in the blood and how they relate to hemostasis. You will also learn about the structure of the heart, about the cardiac cycle, and about the conduction system, which ensures the rhythmicity of the pulse. And lastly, you will learn about the different types of blood vessels and the roles they play in hemodynamics and blood pressure.
Upon completion of this learning program, you will be able to::
Identify primary components of the cardiovascular system and their function.
Link the components of blood to their functions.
Describe the structure and function of the heart.
Relate the cardiac cycle to the electrocardiogram.
Understand factors that affect blood flow through the cardiovascular system.
